Following a successful season of racing around Europe, we want to show our support for The Christie hospital in Manchester: a very special hospital which serves cancer patients close to where we’re based as a team. The hospital holds an important place in our hearts and provides world class care for its patients. Within the cancer field, the research and educational projects the hospital undertakes are so vitally important for the prevention and treatment of the disease.
We’re going to be rolling our way through the Wonderful Week from the 2 - 10 September, and we’ll be working together to try and raise as much money as we can for The Christie. We’ve set a fundraising target of £500 and we’re committing to a combined distance of 1500 miles over the week. Because we’re fundraising with Wonderful every last penny we receive in donations will go directly to the hospital.
We’ll be posting training updates on social media so you can keep an eye on our progress. Please show your support by raising awareness about our efforts and donating whatever you can. If you’ve been thinking about taking part in a cycling event or any other personal challenge, get involved in the Wonderful Week and show your support for a charity that’s important to you!
The Christie Charitable Fund supports the development of cancer prevention, treatment, research and education through investment in staff, equipment, facilities and other support services at the Christie Hospital in Manchester. We provide enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. Gifts from the public make a huge difference to the care and treatment that we are able to provide to our patients and their families. The Christie is the largest single-site cancer centre in Europe.
The charity only exists because of the fantastic support from all of our amazing fundraisers. We really value everything that our supporters do for us whether it's raising funds or giving up your time to volunteer for us. In return, we promise to ensure that we are spending your donations as cost effectively as possible to benefit as many of our patients as possible.
The charity provides continuous funding for a number of projects and services throughout the hospital including the Cancer Information Centre, Wig Service, Art Room and Complementary Therapies. We are also raising money for major developments including the Proton Beam Therapy centre and Integrated Procedures unit.
I understand that I can opt out of these communications at any time.
