Bishop Alan will be silent all day on Tuesday 27 March (8am-8pm). He is delighted to be part of SiLent and hopes everyone can discover the value & beauty of silence in our noisy & fragmented world. He will pray particularly for young people, who have lots of voices speaking into their lives, that in the silence they may hear the "still small voice of God" who speaks to them gently & tenderly. Your sponsorship of Bishop Alan will help young people transform their lives and their world. For example last summer Million Minutes supported 'Field of Dreams' in Basildon, a holiday programme run by young volunteers from the Catholic Parish. Some of the 100 children who attended never leave Basildon during the holiday period and Field of Dreams provides them with activities and new experiences. One volunteer explained: "We know that for some of these children, coming here really is the safest place for them to be during their holiday."
Million Minutes is a young, dynamic charity working to see every young person given a voice and using it to make a positive impact. Will you join in supporting us?
We launched in 2011 with the support of Delia Smith, Margaret Mizen and Fr Christopher Jamison. Our mission is to enable young people to be the difference in the world. Too often young peoples enthusiasm and creativity is underestimated. They get shut out of decision-making, stereotyped, and scapegoated for societys problems. And its not right.
So we develop new and innovative projects that help empower young people, inspired by the principles of Catholic social teaching to preserve the dignity of all human beings, to care for creation, and to reach out to those in need.
I understand that I can opt out of these communications at any time.

There's a lot of mediocrity being celebrated, and a lot of #wonderful stuff being ignored or discouraged.
