Update - 27th Feb 2017 Wow, I'm genuinely taken aback by the support of my friends and family. It really means so much, we've met the original £250 goal in less than a week! I'm going to up the goal to £500, those that have already contributed, thank you so much again and share around.
Mental health is something that is quite close to my heart. Those that know me will understand that statement more than others, but a touch of background for those not in the loop.
For many years, and most of which saw me in denial, I've suffered with physical ticks and twitches some more prevalent than others, all of which have a rather devastating side effect on my psychological health, and by worrying about that, the cycle loops. My friends can certainly testify to that...
GPs have refused to accept their existence and have essentially said "until we can prove it, they don't exist", it's a shame I can't bring all my close friends and family to the doctors with me and sit in a big room and watch them as everyone explains that this is not a phantom situation.
I genuinely don't know where I would be without my friends and family, there have been some pretty dark times. They offer that listening post that I am ever so grateful for and they offer the support that some can't gain access too.
Whilst self diagnosis is never something that someone should do, minor changes to my lifestyle have made small differences to my overall wellbeing, however it's still no substitute for professional advice.
It's charities such as Mind that do the work and offer a listening post when people don't know where to turn. Nobody should have to feel that there is nobody willing to sit down and have a chat with. There is always someone. And time should not be an issue either, you remember when your Mum says "I'm here for you 24/7", take it into account. There is always someone.
To show my appreciation for the work that Mind do for an area of the industry that so desperately lacks the funding it deserves, I'd like to do some fundraising, but for that extra incentive for me, and a minor psychological challenge as it were, I'm not going to drink any alcohol or caffeine for the duration of March 2017, and those of you that know me, perhaps we should give it a week as of the first of March before meeting up, I may think you're a glass of wine.
If you could pledge even £1, that'd be fab, I'm going to set a relatively small target at first but may shift it as the weeks go by if it takes off, but remember all your donations go straight to the charity. 100, no deductions. Remember, those that are UK Taxpayers, get that Gift Aid form filled in!
Thanks everyone, and I appreciate any help you can provide, Best

1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem. With your help, we can help people like Laura:
'Mind brought me back from the edge. Without them, I don't know how I would've found a way out. They helped me change the course of my life.'
We believe no-one should have to face a mental health problem alone and without your generosity we would not be able to provide people with the vital information and support that can change their lives for the better. Your support will help us improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding of mental health issues.
However there is still so much more that we need to do.
I understand that I can opt out of these communications at any time.
Boost your donation by 25p for every £1 you donate to Mind.
Gift Aid is reclaimed by Mind from the tax you pay for the current tax year. Your address is needed to identify you as a current UK taxpayer, but will be used SOLELY for this purpose.
Please read the three statements below carefully before selecting your responses.
This donation is my own money. It has not come from anyone else, e.g. a business, friends, family or a collection.
These are the proceeds from the sale of goods or provision of service e.g. a cake sale, auction or car wash.
I am receiving a benefit from this donation, e.g. entry to an event, raffle or sweepstake.
I am a UK taxpayer and understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in the current tax year than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations it is my responsibility to pay any difference.
I wish to apply Gift Aid and understand that Mind will receive an additional £0.50 as a result of my £2.00 donation - at no additional cost to me. (The Wonderful Organisation will not deduct anything from this Gift Aid contribution to cover its own costs.)
